Kerala is an Indian state with an ancient history. It also has a lot of historical places to interest the millions of tourists who visit it every year. The historical places within Kerala are efficiently looked after by the government.

It provides a humongous view of the Lakshadweep Sea. It was built in 1502 AD by Ekkary Sivappu Nayak. It was later handed over to Hyder Ali and also to the British. It is presently under the control of Archeological Survey of India.

The Padmanabhapuram Palace is a titanic palace to the south of Thiruvananthapuram. It is well known for its mural paintings. The Krishnapuram Palace in a peaceful village and is christened after lord Krishna. This place was built by the Kayamkulam dynasty and is famous for its murals.

Historic places in Kerala include the residence of the Kochi royal family. Today their residence is the biggest archaeological museum in Kerala. This museum reveals the ancient history and its belongings of the royal family, the royal furniture, oil paintings, and sculptures in manuscripts, stone, coins and inscriptions.

More than 200 antique pottery and ceramic vases are displayed. Many weapons of the historic period and contemporary arts are also displayed besides Harrappa and Mohanjodaro collections.

Among the historic places in Kerala are the Portuguese church that was demolished and proclaimed later, the St. Francis church that yet stands magnificently.

The Synagogue that was destroyed was rebuilt and is a prominent historic place of Kerala. The Kerala historic places include various temples such as Padmanabha Swamy Temple, a combination of Dravidian and Kerala architecture. The mural paintings as well as the stone carvings are excellent.

Even the mosque in Kerala resembles a Hindu temple and the Juma Masjid is the first of it in India where the Juma prayers were initiated. Palakkad fort is preserved in Kerala to the best. This is of the Hyder Ali era. Painting on walls in Kerala dates to the prehistoric era. It is believed that arts were present even in the Mesolithic and Paleolithic era. Kerala is a haven for historic buffs and tourists.
