Kerala is an Indian state that is famous for its beaches. There are numerous beaches in Kerala largely due to the fact that the state has quite a long coastline.

The Kappad beach is one among the numerous beaches in Kerala. This beach provides an opportunity to rejuvenate by basking in the warm sun, inhaling fresh cool air and by strolling on the sand. The Kappad beach is present at a distance of 16 kilometers from Kozhikode.

On the way to Kappad, tourists get a chance to watch fishermen in action utilizing older methods of fishing. There is also an ancient temple located on a rock.

This temple is very interesting and is believed to be 800 years old. There is also a pillar situated in the middle of the beach bearing the acclaimed name of the explorer, Vasco da Gama. This pillar was erected to commemorate the arrival of Vasco-da-Gama on Indian soil.

Kappad is immersed in history as well as in natural beauty. This has depth in history as the famous explorer Vasco da Gama dropped his anchor on this sea shore especially in this very beach.

Locally this beach is called as Kappakadavu. This beach is an extensive stretch of silky sands sparkling with glittering boulders and rocks. Kappad Beach tour gives an opportunity to walk into the clear and marvelous lap of nature.

The tourists traveling to Kapad prefer the water route through the backwaters of Kozhikode that leads to the beach as it is very relaxing and peaceful. The nearest rail junction is Kozhikode and the airport is Karipur international airport which is 23km from Kozhikode town.

Kappad Beach offers houseboat cruise down the tranquil backwaters and this journey is enjoyable. The solitary haven is the Kappad beach and chatting with the local fishermen and knowing about their lifestyle, trade and culture is simply interesting. Merely sitting on the edge of the beach and soaking your feet in the luxuriant waters of the Arabian Sea relaxes any person of all the worldly stress.

Kappad has an Ayurveda health spa and cures and provides various services to the tourists. As Kappad is the gateway to Malabar Coast, the solitude and relaxation is proffered and it is a quaint place far from the disturbances of other beaches.
