This temple is very interesting and is believed to be 800 years old. There is also a pillar situated in the middle of the beach bearing the acclaimed name of the explorer, Vasco da Gama. This pillar was erected to commemorate the arrival of Vasco-da-Gama on Indian soil.

Kappad is immersed in history as well as in natural beauty. This has depth in history as the famous explorer Vasco da Gama dropped his anchor on this sea shore especially in this very beach.
