Kerala Water Falls

Kerala is popular all over the world for its temples and its waterways and the fascinating cruises it offers.

Apart from these known dimensions, Kerala also is prominent in other spheres of tourism such as waterfalls to attract more and more tourists to check it out and help it to develop as an extremely popular tourist destination.

There are various waterfalls located within Kerala that enjoy a lot of attention as nature’s beauty is always pristine and does not require any human interference and is long lasting unlike the short termed man-made wonders.

So they are always preferred by scores of tourists and remain a step ahead of their artificial counterparts.

Kerala has several important and famous waterfalls such as the Athirapilly Waterfalls, the Chethalayam Waterfalls, the Thommankoothu Waterfalls, the Cheeyappara Waterfalls, the Soochipara Waterfalls and the Thusharagiri Waterfalls.

The Athirapilly and the Vazhachal falls are two lovely and prominent waterfalls on the Sholayar forest ranges. Athirapilly is situated 78 kilometers from Kochi. It is an eminent picnic spot. It is at an altitude of 80 ft. The nearest airport is Cochin. The nearest railway station is Thrissur while both Kochi and Thrissur are well connected by land. It is at a distance of 63 kilometers from Thrissur.

Chethalayam Waterfalls is another breathtaking experience sited on the Pulpalli Main Road, 12 kms from Sulthan Bathery.

A glimpse of Chethalayam waterfall is possible only when one treks to a distance of nearly 4 kms from Chethalayam.

The Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is nearly 15 kms from Sulthan Bathery. Thommankoothu Waterfalls is a wild waterfall, but small and pretty.

It is situated 20 kms from Thodupuzha. The Thommankuthu waterfalls attract many tourists every year and the wild beauty captivates the traveler’s heart. This is strikingly beautiful amidst the bounty of nature.

There are various accommodation facilities in the Thodupuzha city and there are buses plying from Thodupuzha to Thommankoothu waterfall which is 18 kms away. Kerala waterfalls also include Cheeyappara as well as Valara waterfalls. These are situated between Adimali and Neriamangalam on the Kochi-Madurai highway. The Cheeyappara waterfalls flow down in seven steps and are really admirable.

This is also a lovely place for trekking. Valara waterfalls are a series of waterfalls enveloped by thick forests. It is at a distance of 10 km form Adimali. Few other significant waterfalls are the Soochipara waterfalls and Thusharagiri waterfalls. All the waterfalls are gurgling with water and exhibit a distinct kinship between water and land.
